Patient Administration System (PAS) is the core functionality that a hospital needs in order to keep track of the patient logistics on site and the formal interaction with other healthcare providers. PAS ensures that all service requests received by the hospital are processed in a controlled manner and proper actions are taken to ensure that the patient is given the correct treatment.
As more hospitals are organising in groups or clusters and new requirements related to the patient administration systems arise. While traditional PAS applications focus on managing the needs within a hospital, CSAM's PAS supports cross organizational needs.

Details
Patient search and registration
When the organization needs to start an evaluation or treatment process on a patient it is important that previous patient history is available. Therefore it is important to collect precise data about a patient and ensuring uniqueness in the identification of the patient.
xPA supports advanced search capabilities. xPA supports manual patient registration as well as importing patients from other systems and national population records.
Referral management
Referral management is the process from when the service requester sends a request to a service provider until the service provider either rejects the request, or accepts the request to provide healthcare to the patient.
xPA supports the complete workflow for referral management.
Encounter management
The main focus of encounter management is to keep track of where the patient is/shall be, the reason for the stay (diagnosis), what treatment is given (procedures), evaluate further examination or treatment after planned treatment is given, and to enable collection of any vital information necessary to create a correct patient bill/invoice pr hospital stay. For Inpatient care the resource management is vital in terms of managing room and bed capacity and utilization. For outpatient care the resource management is related to utilization of personnel (physician, nurse, etc.) rooms and other medical equipment.
Booking module
xPA enables maximized utilization of available resources and support fast search capabilities to find available time slots for different types of services and resources.
Clinical administration work lists
xPA supports the users in finding which patients are currently in different scenarios. xPA supports multiple lists and search feature that simplifies these tasks.
Billing and finance integration
Any health service provided is paid for or funded in some way. The basis for calculation of funding is different information registered in xPA like time of stay, type of stay, diagnosis, procedures executed etc and some rates set specifically on each encounter. xPA supports grouping/calculation engine to identify a Health care resource Group (HRG) or Diagnosis related group (DRG) code that is used as the basis for the calculation of the cost of services given.
Reports, Exports, Analysis
xPA provides functionality for different reports, for example ad-hoc reports supporting the work process of the users, reports for activities performed by the hospital which is to be reported to the owners and the government.
xPA supports export of data which has to be sent to the finance applications used by the hospital to ensure comprehensive follow-up of the billing process to all parties that retrieve bills.
Letter module
The letter module provides powerful and easy to use functionality for creating and printing letters to patients, as well as letters to next of kin and health personnel.
Cross Enterprise Features
CSAM’s Applications and integration engine aims to support both local applications for single hospitals as well as cross enterprise and national applications. xPA plays a central role in handling relations between a patient and a healthcare provider as well as binding the healthcare processes between different healthcare providers. A lot of the information recorded on the patient that is understood as the health record summary is usually registered in xPA.
